“The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.”

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 27, 2013.  The Butler County Coalition has established 9 “take-back” locations in the Butler County area on Saturday and six permanent locations throughout the year. Through the efforts of this event, Butler County has removed over 6,700 lbs. of prescription medications.

According to the Butler County Coalition, “In the five previous Take-Back events, DEA in conjunction with our state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners have collected more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications.”
