Equal Pay Act Applies to All Employers

The Equal Pay Act applies to virtually every employer, regardless of size. Navigating the intricacies of adhering to the Act can be complicated. The EPA covers all forms of pay. This includes salary, overtime, bonuses, stock options, profit sharing and bonus plans, life insurance, vacation and holiday pay, cleaning or gasoline allowances, hotel accommodations, reimbursement for travel expenses, and benefits. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently sued an employer for paying a female employee lower wages than her male predecessor. On top of the settlement, the employer was also required to train all employees, supervisors, and managers on the Equal Pay Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
