BWC introduced their budget to the House of Representatives yesterday. The bill, HB34, not only focuses on budget decreases but also includes several injured worker related reforms to improve manage care and treatment.

Proposed reforms:

  •  Require an injured worker to utilize a health care provider in a managed care organization’s network if within 45 days of the injury no medical improvement has been made.
  • Any health care given to an injured worker, related to the injury, during the first 45 days will be paid regardless of the claim being allowed or denied.
  • Eliminate the $15,000 Medical-Only program.

Sheakley will continue to monitor this bill as well as any other workers’ compensation bills proposed this year to the Ohio General Assembly.
